Aran Chada, 51, is believed to have suffered a sudden illness after jumping from a boat into a lake in northern Italy when his 14-year-old son got into difficulty in the water. The incident happened on July 22 outside the Limone resort where Chada, a sales manager from Leicestershire, was on holiday with his family. His body was recovered by Lake Garda volunteers and identified on Tuesday, according to Italian media reports. His family has been informed. Tsada’s body was found about 800 meters from the shore of the lake, at a depth of 316 meters, in an area set up by the Lake Garda coastguard, which coordinated the search. Chadda, described as a “hero” by Coastguard Commander Antonello Ragadale, was in Limone with his partner, Holly Mosley, as well as his son and daughter when the family chartered the boat. A few days later he was to celebrate his 52nd birthday. The alarm was immediately raised by Mosley, who reportedly told rescuers that Chada rescued his son and then “disappeared” near the boat. The Coast Guard said at the time that Chadda may have suffered heat shock. The outside temperature that day was about 38 C (100 F), with the water about 10 degrees cooler. A witness on a boat nearby told local press: “The mother screamed and the father jumped into the water.” Tsada’s family, who were given psychological support by Italian authorities, returned to the UK a few days ago, according to Italian media, and were expected to return soon to identify his body.
