Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted early Wednesday morning that he was only joking when he said he was buying English soccer team Manchester United. When asked if he was serious about the purchase, Must replied: “No, that’s a long running joke on Twitter. I’m not buying any sports teams.” He said, however, that if he were to buy a sports team it would be Manchester United because it was his favorite team as a child. In a separate tweet he added: “Standup is my company.” The tech billionaire also clarified that he is not buying Coca-Cola “to bring back cocaine,” having previously joked that he was doing so. The team started the season with a 2-1 defeat at Brighton earlier this month and then last weekend were shut out by Brentford 4-0. The team boasts players from all over the world, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford, and has not won a Premier League game since May. The team have not won away from Old Trafford against Premier League opposition since March. The club has not finished in first place in the league since 2013. Amid fan protests last year, the Glazer family reportedly set an asking price of around $4 billion. The family bought the club in 2005 for more than $956 million.
