Major transport links are expected to be extremely disrupted on the main strike days of Thursday 18 August and Saturday 20 August, while Tube strike will hit London Underground on Friday 19 August. Most rail companies are also warning passengers to avoid traveling on strike days and to plan ahead on Friday 19 and Sunday 21 as disruption continues. Londoners can expect further disruption amid withdrawals on TfL services on Friday. Here is the latest timetable information from the operators regarding the RMT and TSSA strikes.

Which trains operate on rail strike days?

Avanti West Coast

Avanti West Coast advises customers to only travel if absolutely necessary on Thursday 18 August or Saturday 20 August. During the industrial action on August 18 and 20, the company will operate one train an hour from Euston to Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Preston, with a limited service in Glasgow. The first train will leave before 8 am and the last in the afternoon. North Wales, Shrewsbury, Blackpool and Edinburgh will have no service. Stockport, Macclesfield, Stoke-on-Trent and Runcorn stations will be closed.

c2c

On the c2c route, a reduced service will run from 7:30am. to 6:30 p.m. on strike days, about one-third of normal service. Two trains per hour will run from Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness and to Pitsea via Rainham. No trains will run through Ockendon or Chafford Hundred. On Friday 19 and Sunday 21 August, the full service is due to resume from 8am, although passengers should be prepared for disruption.

Caledonian Sleeper

Although Caledonian Sleeper staff are not on strike, all services from Wednesday 17 to Friday 19 August have been cancelled.

Chiltern Railways

Chiltern advises customers that they will be running an extremely limited service, with no replacement bus service. On Thursday 18th, only one train per hour will run from London Marylebone to Oxford Parkway, Banbury, Aylesbury and between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Amersham respectively. The service will run from 08:00 to 17:00, with no trains north of Banbury. On Friday 19th, no Chiltern Railways trains will operate on the Marylebone – Amersham – Aylesbury Vale Parkway route for the entire day. There will also be no service before 9am. On Saturday 20th, two trains per hour will run from Marylebone to High Wycombe and one train per hour to Aylesbury via Amersham. There will be no service north of High Wycombe and there will be no replacement bus service. On Sunday 21st, there will be no trains before 9am. and engineering works are planned between High Wycombe and Bicester, as well as between Princes Risborough and Aylesbury throughout the day, with replacement buses on some routes.

Crosscountry

CrossCountry will run an extremely limited service on strike days. On Thursday 18 August, there will be no trains running between Cardiff Central and Nottingham due to rail strikes. Services to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Penzance, Plymouth and Exeter St Davids are cancelled. Trains will run between Bristol Temple Meads and Edinburgh – Southampton Central and Manchester Piccadilly – and between Birmingham New Street and Leicester. On Saturday 20 August, trains will only run between Derby and Edinburgh and between Southampton Central and Manchester Piccadilly.

East Midlands Railway

On Thursday 18th, East Midlands Railway services will start at 7:30am. and will end at 6:30 p.m. There will be one train per hour on the Intercity link between Nottingham and London and Sheffield and London. There will also be one train per hour between Derby and Matlock, Derby and Nottingham and Leicester and Nottingham. All other routes are closed. There will also be one train per hour between Derby and Matlock. On Friday, August 19, there will be a reduced service. On Saturday 20 August there will be one train per hour between London to Nottingham and Sheffield. There will be one train an hour from Derby to Matlock and Derby to Nottingham. All other routes will be closed.

Elizabeth Lane

London’s newly issued Elizabeth Line service is warning passengers to expect reduced train services.

Gatwick Express

All Gatwick Express trains are canceled on RMT strike days.

Grand Central

Only three trains will run between London and Sunderland on August 18, with all services starting and ending at Northallerton. On the west side, again only three trains will run, between Wakefield and Kings Cross. The only stop on these services will be Doncaster. On Friday 19th, trains are due to start after 7:50am. The network has yet to provide an updated schedule for Saturday the 20th.

On strike days, two trains per hour will run to Bedford and Luton from St Pancras International One train per hour will run between London King’s Cross and Ely and there will be an additional train between Cambridge and Ely once an hour. There will also be one train per hour running between King’s Cross and Cambridge, with two per hour for journeys from King’s Cross to Peterborough, Welywn Garden City and Stevenage via Hertford North. On Friday 19 August, there will be a half-hourly service between London King’s Cross and Peterborough and an hourly service between Horsham and Dorking.

Great Western Rail

On Thursday 18th, there will be no services in Cornwall, west of Newton Abbot, on any branch in Devon or on the South Wales Main Line. Services are also canceled in the following areas: Reading and Taunton, Bath Spa and Portsmouth Harbour, Westbury and Weymouth, Swindon and Westbury, Bristol Temple Meads and Severn Beach, Hereford and Oxford, Cheltenham Spa and Swindon, Worcester and Gloucester, at the Greenford branch and North Downs line. In addition, on Saturday 20th, there will be no services from Bristol to London Paddington, Cardiff to Bath, Bristol to Gloucester or Bristol to Exeter.

Greater Anglia

It has yet to update its timetable but is advising passengers not to travel on strike days.

Heathrow Express

Services will run between 7:30 A.M. and 6:10 p.m. on August 18 and 20. On August 19 there is no service between 5 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.

Hull Trains

Services will run between Doncaster and London Kings Cross and only between 7.30am. and 6:30 p.m.

Island Line

Normal service will be performed as there is no strike action.

LNER

A limited service will only run between London King’s Cross and Edinburgh twice an hour and between London and Leeds once an hour on strike days.

London North Western Railway

A limited timetable will run on 18 and 20 August from Birmingham to London Euston via Northampton and from Birmingham to Crewe via Wolverhampton. Trains will start at 7:33 AM. with services ending at 18:10. On August 19, there will be limited hours from 7:39 AM. and buses replace trains between Stafford – Crewe via Stoke-on-Trent.

Lumo

Lumo will operate a reduced service of three trains a day on Thursday and Saturday from London King’s Cross to Edinburgh and return, with four services on Friday.

Merseyrail

On August 18 and 20, Merseyrail will be affected by staff shortages, running an hourly service calling at selected stations only between 7.30am. and 6:30 p.m. There will be no trains from Chester, Rock Ferry and Ellesmere Port and no services on the Hunts Cross line.

North

On 18 and 20 August there will be an hourly service from Liverpool to Manchester – and from Leeds to York, Ickley, Skipton, Sheffield and Bradford. No trains will run before 7:30am. or after 18:00. All other routes will not be executed.

ScotRail

ScotRail staff are not involved in the row, but further disruption is expected. Two trains per hour are expected between Edinburgh and Glasgow via Falkirk High, Helensburgh, Inverkeithing, Tweedbank. One train per hour is expected between Edinburgh and Glasgow via Shotts. Two per hour are expected between Glasgow to Hamilton and Lanark. One train per hour is expected from Queen St, Glasgow to Larbert and Falkirk Grahamston. Two trains per hour will run between Milngavie and Springburn. Services will run between 7:30 and 18:30.

South Western Railway

Trains will only run between 7:15 A.M. and 6:30 p.m. on strike days between London Waterloo to Woking, Basingstoke and Southampton and London Waterloo and Windsor and Eaton Riverside. All other main and branch lines will not be run.

Southeastern

On Thursday August 18 and Saturday August 20, passengers are warned to travel only if absolutely necessary. Only 44 of the 180 stations will be open. There are no train replacement bus routes for closed stations. Charing Cross and Cannon Street will be closed on both strike days. No South East trains will serve Victoria on strike days. A reduced frequency service will run between London Bridge and Sevenoaks. Trains will also serve London Bridge-Dartford via the Greenwich, Blackheath and Sidcup branches. There will be no trains east of Dartford or south of Sevenoaks. The first high speed train from Ashford to London St Pancras via Ebbsfleet departs at 7:45am. The last train to London leaves at 4.30pm. In the reverse direction the last departure from London is at 5.30pm. The last trains back to London will also run much earlier than usual and passengers may also not be able to board trains where there is a limited service, especially at Ashford and Ebbsfleet.

On Thursday 18 and Saturday 20 August, two trains per hour will run between London Victoria and Brighton, connecting only Clapham Junction, East Croydon and Gatwick Airport. Two trains per hour will run between London Bridge and Brighton calling at major stations including Three Bridges, Haywards Heath and Hassocks.
