Torrential rain lashed Market Rasen on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 16, flooding roads and leaving cars under water and residents scrambling to protect their homes. Credit: Facebook Lincolnshire Police tweeted: “We are working with Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service in the Market Rasen area to deal with flooded roads in the area. Please do not attempt to travel through flood water as we currently have a number of vehicles stuck.” A number of roads were closed including: Linwood Road, Deer Street, Waterloo Road, Chapman Street and Gainsborough Road and the King Street junction. Trains stopped running for a time after the tracks were flooded, while patients were told to attend the emergency department at Bassetlaw Hospital only if absolutely necessary. South Yorkshire Police has urged motorists to take care when travelling. The following roads in Sheffield were closed due to flooding: Station Road, Halfway, Beaver Hill Rd, Handsworth, Worksop Road and Darnall Road, Attercliffe, Rother Valley Way, Mosborough and Long Acre Way, Mosborough.
