In a video posted on Twitter shortly after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the incident happened along the express lanes of the 401 freeway near Meadowvale.

Schmidt said the motorcyclist was hit by a tote thrown from another vehicle. The object was apparently about four feet by four feet in size. As he said, the motorcyclist was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. Schmidt said the investigation is ongoing.
