Police tweeted that he was traveling in the eastbound express lanes around 1 p.m. when he hit a container that appeared to have fallen from another vehicle. Paramedics rushed him to a trauma center Police are investigating how the container, which they describe as a “4×4 tote”, ended up on the road. The OPP say they have located the vehicle they suspect the container came from. Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in a video report posted before 2 a.m. to the OPP Highway Safety Division’s Twitter account that the bag was “probably” not secured in the vehicle when it fell. Schmidt said police are awaiting an update on the motorcyclist’s condition. The eastbound express lanes near Meadowvale Road are closed while OPP officers investigate. Collection lanes are open, but police are warning drivers to expect delays.
