The Tory MP for Hazel Grove, who is chair of the public administration committee, revealed his struggles in a statement on Twitter titled “chasing the black dog”. He said his staff will do their best to help constituents who contact his office. Wragg wrote: “I lived with depression and anxiety most of my adult life. Right now both are serious. “I resist the temptation to give up completely. Therefore, I need a little break. I know how I feel is far from unique. I would say to anyone who feels this way, to talk to someone they trust, to seek and accept support.” He added: “Don’t assume that those who are outwardly confident and successful are without doubt and despair.” Wragg concluded his statement by saying he was looking forward to returning feeling refreshed, better able to serve his constituents and love life and himself a little more.
