Hot temperatures are coming to the Thompson-Okanagan. Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the Central and South Okanagan, South Thompson and the Fraser Canyon. “A strong ridge of high pressure will bring a short-lived heat wave to British Columbia,” the weather report said. “Hot temperatures return again to the southern interior with daytime highs of 35 to 40C and overnight lows near 18C.” The wave is expected to last from Wednesday into Friday morning, when unsettled weather and cooler temperatures are expected as “a series of disturbances move across the region”. In Kelowna and Penticton, temperatures are expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and Thursday. Kamloops will see 36 C on the same days. Vernon and the North Okanagan are not currently on the heat warning, but temperatures of 35C are also expected, so that could change. In the Fraser Gorge, Lytton is expected to hit 40C on Thursday. Residents are advised to plan outdoor activities during cooler times of the day, stay hydrated and seek shade.
