Owami Davies, 24, was last seen shortly after midnight on July 7, walking in west Croydon in south London. An unconfirmed sighting placed her on nearby Clarendon Road later that morning at around 7am. After members of the public reported a number of possible sightings of Davies, officers downloaded around 50,000 hours of CCTV and viewed around 10,000 hours. DCI Nigel Penney, who is leading the investigation, said: “The search to find Owami Davies is ongoing and we are carrying out enquiries, appeals and extensive CCTV searches in order to locate and find her. I would like to remind people that even though special crime detectives are investigating, this remains a missing persons investigation. “Obviously we are very concerned for Owami’s welfare and it is possible that she is in the area in need of assistance. “We have reports that someone with Owami’s description has been seen in the Croydon area in the days since she was last seen on CCTV and we sincerely hope to find her safe and well.” Davies’ mother Nicol Davies has made appeals for help to find her daughter. Speaking earlier to the PA news agency, Nicol Davies said: “Obviously someone out there has seen something, someone out there knows something, someone out there heard something. “Please, I’m asking for the public’s help, from the world, to say if you know, if you’ve heard of it or seen it or it’s happened to you, please speak up. All we really want is to find her, all we need is for her to come home or find out where she is.” Police arrested five people – two on suspicion of murder and three on suspicion of kidnapping. The most recent arrest was that of a 27-year-old man on suspicion of kidnapping on August 6. All those arrested have been released on bail pending further investigation. Penney said the search for the missing student already had tremendous support from the local community. He added: “We are only concerned about your welfare and we want to make sure you are okay. You can contact us or a charity such as Missing People on 116 000 and just speak to let us know you are ok. Owami, your family loves you and is desperate for news, they would be so happy to hear that you are safe. “We’ve already had great support from the local community, partners and businesses and we appreciate everyone who contacted us or helped publicize the search for Owami.” Anyone with information can call police on 020 8721 4622 or to remain anonymous contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or online.
