Ashley Fofana has informed Leicester of his desire to move to Chelsea as the defender is frustrated with the price tag set for his potential summer transfer. The 21-year-old could cost more than the world record fee paid for a defender when Manchester United signed Harry Maguire for £80m from Leicester in 2019. It comes after two bids worth up to £70million were rejected by Brendan Rodgers’ side with no significant progress yet to be found, despite Thomas Tuchel’s desire to sign another centre-back. The France Under-21 international will remain a Chelsea target until the end of the transfer window and much has been made of how he was told to go to the traveling fans by Foxes boss Rodgers after Leicester’s 4-2 defeat by Arsenal in Saturday. Meanwhile, the Blues are also aware that Everton’s Anthony Gordon wants to make the move to west London despite seeing their £43million bid rejected on Sunday.

The Toffees have insisted their 21-year-old academy graduate is not for sale, but the Blues could increase their bid or offer several fringe players in the hope of making the move. After being offered Barcelona duo Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Frenkie de Jong, the Blues have made no significant progress in convincing either player to move in the summer. However, Chelsea want to receive more positive feedback from the players’ agents before moving ahead with any deal. Chelsea are also planning player sales to help cover spending that could reach up to £300m during the summer transfer window.
