Police removed several vehicles from the roads for alcohol-related offenses yesterday afternoon and overnight. Just before 8pm yesterday, police pulled over a vehicle on Kelsey Drive and found open alcohol in the vehicle. The 23-year-old driver was issued a detector warning and ticketed for the open drink. His vehicle was impounded. Two hours later, officers responded to an impaired driver on Topsail Street in the capital. After pulling the vehicle over, the 45-year-old driver refused several times to provide a breath sample. He was charged and released, but his vehicle was impounded. Later, around 1 a.m., another driver was pulled over on Topsail Road, showing signs of impairment. The 43-year-old driver blew almost twice the legal limit and also lost their vehicle. Meanwhile, another incident ended with a 23-year-old man in lockup. At around 1am, police were called to George Street where two people were reportedly passed out. Officers located both men safely, but found one of them was wanted on an unrelated warrant. The man was charged with one count of failing to comply with a restraining order. He was held over to appear in court.
