An Uber driver whose car crashed into an Arlington pub on Friday, injuring 15, did not intentionally crash his vehicle and alcohol was not a factor in the wreck, authorities said Monday, citing the results of a preliminary investigation. Arlington police said the driver, who has not been identified, is cooperating with the investigation, but they are still investigating the cause of the crash. Three people remain in hospital, one in critical condition and two in stable condition, police said. The crash happened around 6:45 p.m. on Friday when the driver’s sedan left North Courthouse Road and struck the four Irish courts in the 2000 block of Wilson Boulevard, police said. The vehicle drove through the front entrance and hit patrons and workers inside, before catching fire and setting the pub on fire. ‘Sheer carnage’: Witnesses describe moments after car plowed into bar Dave Cahill, the pub’s managing partner, said uninjured patrons and workers helped pull the injured to safety outside. Cahill did not respond to a request for comment on Monday, but described the scene as “pure carnage” on Saturday. Police said a total of nine people, including the driver and a passenger, were hospitalized after the crash, but six have since been released. Others were treated on the spot. Cahill said Saturday he plans to reopen the bar, but it sustained extensive damage that will require major repairs. Photos of the interior showed it to be charred. Metal and wood from the construction were piled on the floor and a large hole had been opened in the front of the building. A fundraiser for the pub had raised nearly $70,000 as of Monday afternoon. Four Courts opened in 1996. The bar is popular with football fans and local workers. It has a restaurant serving Irish food.
