The woman accused in a fatal stabbing in Vancouver’s Yaletown neighborhood could not have committed the crime she’s accused of, her friend says. The Vancouver Police Department said on July 19 that Lindsay Scott, 34, is facing charges of second-degree murder and assault in the death of Justin Mohrman. The 29-year-old man was walking near Smithe and Homer streets around 8:30 a.m. of July 11 when he was stabbed. 911 was called and he was taken to the hospital. “Investigators found no evidence to suggest that the victim and the accused knew each other,” says Sgt. Steve Addison. “We believe they were strangers.” Scott is innocent, friend Robert Lee told Glacier Media outside Vancouver provincial court. “There is no way this lady would do such a thing,” he said. “I have lived with her for eight months. She is a beautiful sweetie. He’s an angel.” Police arrested Scott shortly after the incident at Main and Hastings. She remains in custody at the Alouette Correctional Center for Women in Maple Ridge. Scott made a brief video appearance before Judge Patricia Bond on August 15. Defense attorney John Turner told Bond Scott has yet to have a bail hearing. He and Crown prosecutor Brendan McCabe agreed to adjourn the case to August 23.
