No arrests have been made after an aggressive fight in a Calgary grocery parking lot on Friday left a woman with a shattered car window. Police say they responded to the Real Canadian Superstore in Coventry Hills around 5pm on Friday for reports of a man damaging a vehicle in the parking lot. The video, which was taken by the victim and posted by her friend on Facebook, shows the man running away as the woman shouts after him before eventually riding away on a bike.
In the Facebook post, the victim’s friend says she “honked her horn at a car that was in the middle of the road texting, then went to park and then this random guy who wasn’t even in the car she honked at attacked her vehicle.
“Prior to this video he tried to open her driver’s side door and pull her out of the car to fight her.”
While the original social media post was updated to say the man had been arrested, police say that is not the case.
CPS confirmed to Postmedia that the man in the video has been identified but has not been arrested or charged as officers continue their investigation.
“We have identified the person but we need to speak to him and complete the investigation. Therefore, no arrests have been made and no charges have been laid at this time,” said Cassie Pang with the Calgary Police Service. “They know who the suspect is, but they need to talk to that person.”
