Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte were reportedly the only Premier League managers to miss the top flight’s pre-season briefing from the refereeing body – Professional Match Referees (PGMOL). The Telegraph reports that the Chelsea and Tottenham bosses – who were both sent off during their teams’ draw at Stamford Bridge on Sunday – were not present at any of the meetings arranged by the Premier League. The summer camps are organized so that managers can learn about any law or rule changes that umpires will be focusing on in the upcoming campaign. Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte were the only managers to miss the Premier League’s pre-season update on referees. There are two identical briefings – one in the north and one in London – but neither attended. It is claimed that Conte was ill on the date of the meeting in London, but neither manager sent someone in his place. Tuchel is believed to have attended a separate PGMOL briefing for Chelsea players – something every team receives before the start of the season. Tuchel and Conte clashed during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Chelsea manager Tuchel was left fuming by some of the decisions made by referee Anthony Taylor. Tuchel and Conte engaged in angry exchange as Chelsea drew against Tottenham Taylor ignored Kai Havertz’s appeal for a foul after a challenge from Rodrigo Bedancourt in the build-up to Pierre-Emile Hoiberg’s equaliser. The referees also ignored that Richarlison was in an offside position when Hojbjerg scored. Before Harry Kane’s late equaliser, Tottenham defender Christian Romero pulled Mark Cucurella’s hair, but he too was not penalised. Tuchel and Conte were both sent off by Taylor after the final whistle and there was tension between the pair when they went to shake hands at the end of the game. Tuchel celebrated furiously after Rhys James made it 2-1 against Chelsea, with the German having clashed with Conte in the past. Tuchel was angry with some of the decisions made by referee Anthony Taylor The Football Association is now investigating Tuchel’s post-match comments about Taylor. Tuchel said: “Today? Yes [I have more of a problem with the referee]. “Maybe it would be better [if he does not referee another Chelsea game]. I do not think so [only] some of the fans believe that [Taylor has made bad decisions against Chelsea]. “I can assure you that the whole dressing room, every single person believes that. The players know what’s going on and they’re on the field. Of course [they are worried when he takes charge of one of our games]. ‘Both [Spurs] The goals should not apply and then it is a fair result. I can’t coach, but the referee can whistle the next game. Good.’
