The RCMP Marine boat remains on scene at the Marina, but the medical examiner and ambulance have now left. The brother-in-law tells Castanet, “his sister was in the boat, she was looking at him and she said in the blink of an eye, he was gone. He ran over. And he was already gone.” Castanet has contacted the RCMP for more information. ORIGINAL 8:30 AM RCMP and the BC Coroner Service are on scene at Kelowna’s downtown marina, in the process of recovering the body of a 26-year-old Surrey man who went missing Saturday night while his family was in the process of returning a rental boat. Castanet spoke with a family member who asked us to respect the family’s request for privacy as they try to cope with the loss of their loved one. “It is meaningless. He was just waiting to use the bathroom he slipped up on and now he’s gone.” Central Okanagan Search and Rescue confirmed to Castanet that the search was called off Sunday night. “The RCMP has informed us that our services are no longer required,” said COSAR search manager Duane Tresnich. The victim’s brother-in-law tells Castanet they were visiting Kelowna from Surrey for the weekend when tragedy struck.
