Golden is the Hugh P. McCormick Professor of Family Endocrinology and Metabolism and vice president and chief diversity officer of the office of diversity, inclusion and health equity at Johns Hopkins Medicine. To begin addressing disparities in diabetes and other conditions, the health care system must gain the trust of minority patient groups, Golden said. It outlines lessons from the COVID-19 trials that can be applied to diabetes care and offers specific actions providers can take to begin addressing disparities in their own practice as well as broader public policy initiatives.
