Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., is calling for the repeal of the Espionage Act after the FBI raided former President Trump’s Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago. Paul made the announcement in a tweet on Saturday night. “The espionage act was abused from the beginning to imprison World War I dissenters. It is time to repeal this flagrant affront to the 1st Amendment,” Paul wrote. FBI agents executed a search warrant at Trump’s Florida estate on Monday and seized items, including 11 sets of classified material, as well as some classified as top secret. Number two, they didn’t have to ‘grab’ anything. They could have it whenever they wanted without playing politics and breaking into Mar-a-Lago. It was in secure storage, with an additional lock placed according to their request…” Trump said. “They could have had it whenever they wanted—and that includes a LOT OF PAST. ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS ASK.
