The brutal execution of Lametta Fadlallah, 48, and Amy Hazouri, 39, has sent shockwaves through police ranks amid fears that underworld bosses may be “twisting underworld rules that once meant women and children were out of boundaries. Ms Fadlallah was sitting in the back seat of a silver Toyota 4WD outside her home in Hendy St, Panania in Sydney’s west on Saturday night when about a dozen bullets were fired through the window. She is believed to have been targeted because of her links to organized crime after marrying two of the city’s most notorious drug lords. “Lam was playing with the big boys and maybe he knew too much,” an underworld source who knew Ms Fadlallah told the Daily Telegraph. “He had come to life. He carried the guns for the boys, gave an alibi when needed and until he was killed mixing with gangsters. “She always thought she was smart, but this is the most dangerous Sydney has ever been. Killing women so openly is next level.’ The underworld source said Lam was “no small time trader” and described her as “ruthless”. Lametta Fadlallah (left) is believed to have been the target and Amy Hazouri (right) is believed to have suffered collateral damage The 4WD the women were in is towed behind the crime scene (pictured) “Lam was playing with the big boys and maybe he knew too much,” said an underworld source who knew Ms Fadlala. “She was as tough as kids to deal with,” he said. Ms Hazouri was sitting next to her and is believed to have been “collateral damage” in the savage attack, simply in the wrong place at the wrong time when she was shot and killed. A 16-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man were also in the vehicle, but miraculously escaped the hail of twelve bullets, sped to safety and called for help.

THE GANG OF TELOPAIA ST

A loose collection of young people, many from the Middle East, in the western Sydney suburb of Punchbowl in the 1990s. Fights, carjacking, shootings and drug deals – up to 300 a day – were common. In 1998, a fight in the street outside a house party led to the death of Korean teenager Edward Lee. When the police and media began to take notice the gang’s name was coined after an 800m road in the Punchbowl where the activity was concentrated. In March 2000, shots were fired at a police patrol car that led more than a hundred officers to take to the street in a raid. The raid was followed by an investigation and two more raids later that year, each involving more than 200 officers. Dozens were arrested and police seized weapons, cash and drugs effectively dismantling the gang. There were already fears Sydney’s ongoing gang war was out of control with 14 execution-style murders taking place across the city in the past two years – as various Middle Eastern crime gangs and their bikers battle for control of the city’s lucrative drug trade. heels of the pandemic. But with victim 15 and 16 now added to the list of overworked detectives, police say it is clear that underworld bosses have “torn up the rules” and the streets have never been bloodier. Ms Fadlallah has been around the underworld all her adult life, marrying Shadi Derbas in the 1990s while in her twenties. Derbas was a key member of the Telopea St gang – coined after Punchbowl Street, in Western Sydney, which became concerned between 1998 and 2000 as a hotbed of Middle Eastern gang activity. Telopea Street was turned into an efficient drug market with up to 300 drug deals per day. Gang members also hid weapons and drugs in properties on the street. Police shut down the operation after two years and arrested 60 people and seized $3 million worth of proceeds of crime. Derbas was convicted in 2000 of obstructing murder investigations into the deaths of Adam Wright and Michael Hurle – two men shot dead by gangster Michael Cannon outside the Five Dock Hotel in 1998.
The legacy of that period created much of the street gang culture that wreaks havoc on the streets of Western Sydney today. Most recently, Ms Fadlallah’s heart was won by the 200kg man – Helal Safi – who was found dead in a Sydney apartment in January 2021 after suffering a heart attack. The towering Kings Cross identity survived a prison assassination plot in 2010 after being stabbed 42 times by rival gangsters. His injuries were so severe that he fell into a coma for five months with police crediting his size for keeping him alive. Surprisingly, the two lovers of the crime queen have swapped partners with Shafi’s ex-girlfriend and will marry Derbas. Detectives are investigating links between the pair and other criminals Ms Fadlalla might be linked to – and whether she had information others wanted to keep quiet. Most recently, Ms Fadlallah’s heart was won by 200kg man Helal Safi (pictured) – who was found dead in a Sydney apartment in January 2021 after suffering a heart attack Safi (pictured) was a ‘major’ underworld player and survived 42 stabbings in prison in 2010 Police claim the shooting was a targeted attack (a burnt-out car was found in a nearby suburb) But in the case of Lametta Fadlallah, 48 (pictured), it is believed she was targeted because of her links to organized crime after marrying two of the city’s most notorious drug lords. Ms Hazouri is not believed to have had any such criminal links and was a dedicated hairdresser who was highly regarded for her expertise in bridal looks. She also had a TikTok page filled with clips of her smiling and dancing to Middle Eastern music. Colleagues at her hair salon in Bankstown shared a touching tribute on Sunday saying they were “devastated” to learn of the untimely death. “We are devastated, our hearts are broken, you left us too soon,” the tribute read. ‘Your memory is forever… until we meet again.’ NSW Police Detective Inspector Danny Doherty unveiled the cameras on Sunday, acknowledging the shooting was “unprecedented” as an “unwritten law” in Sydney’s underworld that women and families were off limits had been broken. He said the police will stop at nothing to arrest the perpetrators. “This is a horrific attack on two women. They have lost their lives. It was a planned murder, a real murder, and it happened on a public road in Sydney,” he said. “It is unacceptable by any standard. It is truly unprecedented. And we are determined to get the answers for the family.’ Amy Hazouri (pictured), 39, was in the same car and was also shot. He is believed to have suffered ‘collateral damage’ A car was found burnt out in the nearby suburb of Revesby, a common method used in gangland hit-and-runs (pictured) “They don’t discriminate if you’re a man or a woman. Every rule book has been thrown out, and that’s worrying.” A witness said he saw three cars tearing down Weston Street after the shooting and then the police arriving. “The first patrol car showed up, the two guys got out, everything calmed down,” he said. “Immediately, everything calmed down on its own. These two officers went to work on the lady, and they got out of the car, and they worked so hard on her.’ Three burnt out cars were found in the surrounding suburbs which are now being forensically examined. A Mercedes was found in Wattle Grove, another Mercedes in Yagoona and another burnt shell of a car was found in Revesby.
