Three people were wounded Sunday night in a shooting outside Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, sparking a massive law enforcement presence and a chaotic scene at the amusement park.
A spokesman for Six Flags Great America said three people were injured when shots were fired from a single vehicle in the parking lot. The vehicle was immediately removed from the scene after the shooting, according to the spokesman. Two people were taken to hospital for evaluation, while a third refused treatment. After the shooting, the park closed early in the evening. The Lake County Sheriff’s Department confirmed it was assisting Gurney police and said there was no indication the shooting was an active shooter incident. Police officers from the nearby communities of North Chicago, Waukegan and Vernon Hills also responded to the scene. The shooting remains under investigation.
