By Samantha Lawson Posted August 14, 2022 at 3:18 pm Image Source: Reddit A Brampton Transit bus was delayed more than 30 minutes on its route Saturday morning (August 13) when a man who allegedly boarded without paying a fare got into a fight with a passenger. A short 4-second video posted on Reddit shows the inside of the Route 7 bus where two people are involved in a physical altercation. The incident happened near the intersection of Queen St. East and Kennedy Rd. North. Peel Regional Police confirm that commuters contacted police around 10 a.m. about a fight that had broken out on a bus. However, police say the call was canceled before officers arrived on the scene because the man who refused to pay the fare had fled. Comments in response to the video posted suggest the man in the orange hi-vis T-shirt is homeless and entered the bus through the back door while it was stopped. The comments then explain that the driver stopped the bus until the person who got in through the back door left or paid their fare. Another bus passenger, the man in the yellow hoodie, confronted the man in the orange shirt and told him to get off the bus. Further comments state that the man in the orange shirt refused to get off the bus and that’s when the fight took place. Some viewers state that the fault lay with the man who jumped on the bus from behind, while others blame the bus driver who stopped the bus and demanded the fare. “This is the fault of the drivers…. Why would I book a whole busload of ppl for a few $ and some change?????… it’s not like it’s going to come out of her pay,” one user wrote. Another user said: “TTC banned drivers from charging fares to prevent this exact situation. Stopping the bus and sitting there is such a move and it ruins everyone’s commute. Why be so petty about $3.25 that doesn’t fit in your pocket?’ insauga Editorial Standards and Policies
