This was no summer weekend fireworks. When York Regional Police officers responded, they found another fatal shooting victim. This didn’t happen in a back alley at 3 in the morning or in a little house. This was a crime that took place in a parking lot at 8 o’clock Saturday night at a busy shopping center — at the corner of Hwy. 27 and Langstaff Rd. — with a tutoring center, a pizzeria, a shoe store, a grocery store, a dry cleaner and a tobacconist. People were coming and going. In other words, this is a location frequented by families going about their daily lives: picking up food for dinner, clothes for work, or lottery tickets. But in 2022, you just never know when or where you might find yourself in the middle of the gun. It happens anywhere and anytime.

The gangs and shooters in GTA just don’t care. They will shoot anywhere and anytime. They don’t care who sees it and or gets hit. “Investigators believe this incident was targeted,” said a release prepared by Const. Maniva Armstrong. The killers got their guy. Damn anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or been shot and killed in the crossfire. This is not the first time we have seen such brazen disregard for human life in Vaughan. Featured video We apologize, but this video failed to load. That came very close to a disturbing multiple shooting just 10 months ago, when two women were struck in another parking lot and stray bullets also entered a pharmacy. This time, according to police, the killer or killers hit their target. But sometimes these bullets are fired and hit innocent people going about their daily business.

While police say “there is no risk to public safety,” they can’t make any promises about next time. In the meantime, police are appealing to the public for help in solving this crime. “The suspects fled the scene before police arrived,” police said. “The investigation is ongoing and officers are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time and have not yet spoken to police to come forward.” Investigators are also looking for video surveillance from the area or any drivers who may have captured dash cam video of the incident. These videos may have captured images of the shooting, the escape and, of course, the regular shoppers who were lucky enough to escape unscathed.
