An electrical fire broke out during the service as 5,000 people gathered at the Abu Sifin Coptic Church in the Imbaba neighborhood on Sunday, the sources said. The fire blocked the entrance to the church, causing chaos, they said, adding that most of the dead were children. “People were gathering on the third and fourth floors and we saw smoke coming from the second floor. People rushed down the stairs and were looking at each other falling,” said Yasir Munir, a worshiper at the church. “Then we heard a bang and sparks and fire coming out of the window.” He said he and his daughter were on the ground floor and managed to escape. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said in a tweet: “I express my sincere condolences to the families of the innocent victims who passed with their master in one of his houses of worship.” Giza, Egypt’s second largest city, is located just across the Nile from Cairo.
