The attack took place around 1 a.m. Sunday on Poupart Street, near Ontario Street, in the Ville-Marie district. A 911 call reporting a fight led police to the location. “At the scene, the police found the victim, a 55-year-old man with injuries to the upper body. He was taken to hospital in critical condition, but we received confirmation that he is now out of danger,” explained Montreal Police (SPVM) Officer Véronique Comtois. “According to initial information received, more than one suspect assaulted the victim, possibly with physical violence, before fleeing.” The motive for the crime was unknown at this time.
