Geisinger Hospital says it has treated 15 patients after the crash Saturday night in Berwick, Pennsylvania. According to WNEP-TV, the accident happened around 6:30 pm at a restaurant called the Toxicology Department. There was no immediate word on the severity of those injuries. A photo released by WNEP shows firefighters and at least one emergency vehicle at the scene. The local newspaper The Times-Leader reports that several people were hit by a vehicle. The cause of the crash is not yet known. The restaurant posted a statement on its Facebook page saying: “Today has been an absolute tragedy. We will be closed until further notice. Please respect our privacy while we grieve and try to process the events that occurred. Thank you.” The benefit was being held at the restaurant for the victims of the Aug. 5 fire in Nescopeck, Pennsylvania that killed 10 people. The dead include seven adults and three children. One of the firefighters who responded to the scene was a relative of the victims. All 10 victims of that fire died of smoke inhalation, the coroner said. Copyright © 2022 WPVI-TV. All rights reserved.
