Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to a grass fire in Enfield, north London, on Saturday afternoon. An area measuring approximately 900 meters by 600 meters was set on fire, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) said. The fire is producing heavy smoke over the M25 between junctions 25 and 26, the LFB added. “Smaller sparks can start a blaze that could cause disaster,” it said. “Despite our continued warning over the past few weeks, we know there are still people barbecuing in parks, throwing cigarettes out of car windows and leaving litter around.” Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service has announced it is battling a large fire in the town of Camborne.
