Our usual detailed testing is now about to begin as a test unit is already in the office. It’s in the standard Phantom Black color rather than the Greygreen we were initially treated to (which Samsung named the hero color for this generation). The retail package includes the phone itself, a USB-C to C cable and a SIM ejector. No, the $1,800/€1,800/£1,650 phone doesn’t have a charger in the box either. The only reason the box is so big is because the phone arrives open, keeping its internal 7.6″ display stretched. The Galaxy Z Fold4 has a 25W charging rating, just like its predecessor. Thanks to some tweaks, however, the phone now charges faster – according to official numbers, it’ll go from zero to 50% in half an hour. In our tests the Z Fold3 only rose to 33% over the same period. Note that you’ll need a 25W USB Power Delivery charger to get the fastest possible charge (or a 15W wireless charger if you don’t want to plug it in). Another thing we’re excited to test is the camera. It still falls short of the standard set by the S22 Ultra, but should at least match the S22/S22+. It uses the same GN3 50MP sensor as the two S22 models (1/1.57”, 1.0μm pixels) and the same telephoto camera with a 10MP sensor and 3x lens. The screens on the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 are shorter and wider The aspect ratios of the cover and internal displays have been slightly changed, which will make them more ergonomic. Stay tuned for a full report, coming soon.
