Ridge Meadows RCMP said officers were called to 216 Street near Donovan Avenue for a report of a shooting shortly before noon.

Officers arrived to find a 33-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of the police and paramedics, he died at the scene. Maudis said it was too early to say whether the shooting was gang-related. Police said Route 216 was closed between Lougheed Highway and Dewdney Trunk Road and asked drivers to avoid the area.
