A former Louisville Metro Police detective reportedly plans to plead guilty to her alleged role in the March 2020 shooting death of 26-year-old Breona Taylor, who is black and sparked nationwide protests. Kelly Hanna Goodlett, 35, is charged with conspiracy to violate Taylor’s civil rights for her alleged role in falsifying an affidavit for a search of Taylor’s apartment that ultimately led to the 26-year-old’s death. Brandon Marshall, Goodlett’s attorney, announced in court Friday that Goodlett plans to enter a guilty plea during her Aug. 22 arraignment, according to The Courier-Journal. Judge Regina Edwards ordered the former Louisville officer to surrender her passport and avoid contact with her co-defendants, Louisville Sgt. Kyle Meany and former detectives Joshua Jaynes and Brett Hankison, The Courier-Journal reported. (LMPD Facebook) Goodlett, an eight-year LMPD veteran, along with Meany, Jaynes and Hankison, were part of a police unit established in 2019 called Place-Based Investigations (PBI). The unit was tasked with investigating alleged drug trafficking in Louisville’s West End, about 10 miles from Taylor’s home, according to a federal complaint filed earlier this month. Taylor’s friend, Jamarcus Glover (“JG”), was apparently a target of the investigation, the complaint states. The lawsuit also alleges that the warrant for Taylor’s apartment contained false statements. “On March 13, 2020, at approximately 12:45 a.m., LMPD officers who were not involved in the preparation of the search warrant and who were unaware of the false statements therein executed the warrant at Taylor’s home,” the complaint states. . “When these officers broke down the apartment door, a visitor to Taylor’s (KW) home, believing that intruders had broken in, immediately fired one shot with a legally owned pistol, striking the first officer at the door.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP In response to the shooting, two officers “instantaneous fired a total of 22 shots into the apartment and one of those shots struck Breonna Taylor in the chest,” while a third officer moved to the side of Taylor’s apartment and “fired another ten shots through a window and sliding glass door,” the complaint states.
