A proof of ownership unsealed in court shows FBI agents took 11 sets of classified files from the estate during a search Monday. The seized records include some marked not only top secret but also “sensitive compartmentalized information,” a special category protecting the nation’s most important secrets that if publicly disclosed could cause “extremely serious” damage to U.S. interests. Court records did not provide specific details about what information the documents may contain. The warrant says federal agents were investigating possible violations of three different federal laws, including one governing the collection, transmission or loss of defense information under the Espionage Act. The other statutes address the concealment, mutilation, or removal of records and the destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in federal investigations. The proof of ownership also shows federal agents collected other possible presidential records, including a pardon for Trump ally Roger Stone, a “leather-bound box of documents” and information on the “President of France.” A binder of photographs, a handwritten note, “various classified documents” and “various confidential documents” were also seized in the search. …
