Kiely was last seen at around 12.30am. on Aug. 6 near the Prosser Family Campground in Truckee, where he attended an alleged alcohol-fueled gathering of more than 200 teenagers and young adults. An investigation was launched by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office the next morning after Kiely failed to show up for a hike with friends. The case is being treated as a kidnapping because Kiely’s car is missing. More than 260 staff are searching the area on the ground and in the air and more than 500 tips have been received from the public. Investigators say they have no new leads, but they still suspect someone in the community knows more. Kiely’s mother, Lindsey Rodni-Nieman, urged anyone at the party with information to come forward. “We’re desperate for any other teenagers to come forward and share the final pieces of the story that no one seems to be able to piece together,” he told the Independent.

Kiely’s best friend Magdalene Larson said she “just wants it back” as the inquest entered its sixth day. “I just want her to come back and be okay and just know that she was loved and that we all looked out for her and that we all loved her through this and stuff,” he told KCRA3. Ms Larson described her best friend as “such a vibrant person” with “so much energy”. The two best friends met briefly at the age of nine at an art camp, but became close a few years later when their mother became friends. “My parents decided that we would hang out and that I would be friends with their daughter and that’s exactly what happened,” he said. Fight at party believed to be unrelated to Kiely’s disappearance
It has emerged that a fight broke out at the party at the Prosser Family Campground on the night of August 6 – but that officials do not believe it is connected to Kiely’s disappearance. At Thursday’s press conference, Placer County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Josh Barnhart addressed the fight at the party. While investigators don’t believe it has anything to do with Kiely’s disappearance, Lt. Barnhart said people recorded the fight, so investigators want to look at the video to see if it has any clues. Teenagers and young adults who attended the party were encouraged to send the videos to law enforcement and were also told that – if they are concerned about giving information about the missing persons case – they should go to a person they trust and ask to get them information to law enforcement. It comes as officials have repeatedly urged the teenagers to come forward, reassuring them they are not interested in investigating underage drinking and just want to get Kiely home safe. Investigators are urging the public to be wary of Kiely’s jewelry
Police have released photos of the jewelery Kiely Rodni appeared to be wearing at the time of her disappearance. During a news conference Thursday, Placer County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Angela Musallam urged the public to contact authorities if they come across a gold chain believed to have been worn by Kiely on Aug. 6. “We’re told she always wears this kind of jewelry… We’d like anyone she meets [this necklace] to contact us immediately because that would certainly provide us with a new advice and a new direction,” Ms. Musallam said during the press conference. Friend recounts last call before her disappearance
A friend of missing teenager Kiely Rodni has spoken about the pair’s last phone call before her friend disappeared from a party in California. Samantha Smith, 18, told The Independent on Monday that she was the last person to speak to 16-year-old Kiely after midnight on Saturday. “At 12.36 she called me… and that’s the last call anyone had with her. We said “I love you, good night. Come home safe,’ and that’s the last we heard from her,” Samantha said Monday.
