On Friday EastEnders actor James By, 38, – who has played Martin Fowler in the BBC show since 2014 – was officially announced as the 14th star. It comes a day after Helen Skelton was reportedly in the line-up and her place on the show is expected to be confirmed later on Friday – making the total line-up 15 contestants. It comes after former X Factor star Fleur East and Countryfile star Hamza Yassin were revealed as the 12th and 13th stars on Thursday – alongside stars Kym Marsh, Will Mellor and Jayde Adams, among others. The latest: EastEnders actor James Bye has been announced as the 14th celebrity contestant to sign up for Strictly Come Dancing – completing the run for a 20th series Moving on: According to the Sun, James is the penultimate contestant to sign up before Countryfile star Helen Skelton was announced later today as the final star. On Friday soap star James joked that he is ready to show off his ‘daddy dancing’ when he heads down the ballroom later this year. As announced, James said: “I’m not known for my shiny toes – in fact my kids regularly laugh at my dad dancing, but I’m honored to be asked and I’ll give it my all. “There are some huge dancing shoes to fill and it’s really exciting to be following in the footsteps of some amazing EastEnders talent. I’d like to make everyone proud.” James is best known for portraying the iconic role of Martin in the award-winning BBC soap EastEnders, which he took over in 2014. It has been nominated for several British Soap Awards, winning one for Best Story in 2016. He has previously had roles in the BBC One miniseries The Great Train Robbery and films such as Hummingbird, The Hooligan Factory and Cemetery Junction. On stage he has starred in many theater productions with good reviews. Exciting: It comes after former X Factor star Fleur East and Countryfile star Hamza Yassin were revealed as the 12th and 13th stars on Thursday – alongside stars Kym Marsh (pictured), Will Mellor and Jayde Adams among others Although Helen has yet to be announced, sources have told The Sun she will be the last contestant to be revealed – following her split from husband Richie Myler earlier this year. It comes after Wildlife cameraman and presenter Hamza was announced as the 13th contestant to join the Strictly Come Dancing line-up on Thursday. Hamza – who is one of the presenters of the BBC’s Animal Park and a guest presenter on Countryfile – joined former X Factor star Fleur, revealed as the celebrities to appear on the dance show on Thursday. I’ve been watching it for years and I can’t believe I’m actually going to be there dancing live in front of a British audience. “My dancing skills are currently at the level of a 1970’s disco vibe” but I’m ready to work hard and will shake it every chance I get – shake it ’till you make it! He is also well known to younger viewers as Ranger Hamza, presenting CBeebies live show Let’s Go For A Walk and new series Ranger Hamza’s Eco Quest later this month. In his spare time, Hamza competes in the Highland Games and enjoys riding the country roads on his motorbike. It comes after The Mail on Sunday revealed last week that some BBC executives are concerned there are no longer enough big names available to compete for the glitterball. As comedian Jayde Adams became the fifth contestant to be revealed for this year’s series, even Radio 5 DJ and former Strictly star Scott Mills shared his concerns – telling listeners he now thinks they should start putting former contestants. Thrilled: Hamza Yasin said: ‘I’m absolutely over the moon to be on Strictly 2022. Never in a million years did I think I’d be on such a great show’ The announcement of Miss Adams comes just a day after it was revealed that Radio 2 travel reporter Richie Anderson is in this year’s line-up. A source at the Corporation said: “Being on Strictly is a dream for so many celebrities, but so many of them have done it now. They lived that dream and reaped its immense benefits. “Strictly’s success is huge, the ratings are still huge, so it’s going to keep going – but there’s been so many big names coming up that you have to wonder where the rest is going to come from.” Filming: He’s also well known to younger viewers as Ranger Hamza, presenting CBeebies live-action show Let’s Go For A Walk and new series Ranger Hamza’s Eco Quest later this month Last year’s series was won by deaf EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis, which was watched several times a week by at least two million viewers. And in its first ten years, it featured household names such as John Sergeant, Emma Bunton and Jerry Hall. After Miss Adams, a comedian from Bristol, and Mr Anderson, Strictly fans took to social media to discuss how they are unfamiliar with some of the stars. “Sorry, I don’t mean to be rude, but who is Jayde Adams?” One tweeted, while another said: “Jayde Adams… no I’ve never heard of her! #Strictly.’ It comes after Fleur became emotional as she told how she is competing in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing in memory of her late father Malcolm, who loved the BBC show. The former X Factor star, 34, revealed she was the twelfth contestant in this year’s series on Thursday during her Hits Radio Beakfast show where she said: ‘You’ll see me in the ballroom on Strictly Come Dancing!’ Appearing on Lorraine later that day, Fleur broke down in tears as she told guest host Ranvir Singh she was heartbroken her father – who died in 2020 from a heart attack – wasn’t here to watch her dance. Heartfelt: It comes after Fleur became emotional as she told how she is competing in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing in memory of her late father Malcolm, who loved the BBC show He said: “I hope to dance to some of my songs… for me it’s very emotional. My dad who died in 2020, Strictly was his favorite show.’ Excited, she added: “I’ll do it for him. I’m just upset that he can’t see me do it, but I’ll have him on my mind during the show… I’m excited, my family, because of that, will be buzzing. I didn’t expect to get so emotional about it.” Following Malcolm’s death, Fleur shared a heartfelt tribute to him on Instagram, writing: ‘You cheered me on until the end. you taught me too [sister] Keshia to be confident and always chase our dreams. “I will continue to make you proud forever. I’m so glad you’ve seen us achieve so much. Every note I sing, every song I write and everything I do will be for you. This album is for you dad. I love you so much daddy my love. Have a great time up there! See you soon.’ Fleur said: “My dad who passed away in 2020, Strictly was his favorite show. I will do it for him. I’m just upset that he can’t see me do it.” Elsewhere during her interview with Lorraine, Fleur said she feels the pressure to do well on Strictly as she already has dance experience from performing on stage. She said, “There is so much pressure, I am so nervous, Ranveer. I can dance in the club and when I sing on stage, but I’ve never done a technical dance, so I don’t know anything ballroom, how to point a toe or anything like that.’ He added: “This is a completely different level. You have to give me some advice, Ranveer!’ Fleur said: “I’m excited, my family, just because of this, will be buzzing. I didn’t expect to get so emotional about it.”
